USU LIBRARY EBOOKS
The USU Library has a large collection of e-books that you can access by logging in with your A-number and password. You can find e-books by searching their library catalog at the top of the library's website. The Merrill-Kazier Library at Logan Campus will send books from their physical collection to your home, for free, with prepaid. return label.
You will need to log into their Inter Library Loan System to request a book and ensure that you select Distance Aid as your campus location. We know that research assignments can be stressful and trying to locate relevant information can be overwhelming, but as USU students, you have access to many resources that will help make the process less intimidating. There is a research help tab on the lower left hand side of each of your canvas courses. It also provides contact information for the individual librarians in your classes that you can set up an appointment to get help.
If you need quick live support from a librarian you can always use their chat box which you can find on the library homepage. Here, you can help find and evaluate information sources, integrate library resources into your resources, and more. Usually, if you need additional assistance, you can always access yourself or the remote-add library, Erin. They are always happy to help you. USU LIBRARY FEATURES
As you may have found by searching for articles on Google, many magazine and magazine articles are not freely available online. However, the library has a large collection of journals and articles, which you can access online through their library database. For broadcast classes they can work with you to comprise best practices from both our one-on-one and online classes. USU LIBRARY DATABASE
These are databases that are used to sort and search articles - and using them is like using an index in the back of a book. So, when should you use keyword vs. subject terms? If you are starting to search then keywords are a very good place to start and want to get familiar with your topic because they are more flexible searches. However, you will often find many irrelevant results. Topics are better if you want only relevant articles related to your topic.
You will usually get more relevant results when using subject terms. Because it is a controlled vocabulary for the entire subject, including any synonyms in a search.
For example, if you are detecting mental illness then the subject specified in the PsycINFO database is actually "mental disorder". While this term may be less intuitive, it is useful because it will pull up articles that can be tagged with "mental illness" or specific instances of mental illness such as bi-polar disorder or PTSD.
